“History of Persian Literature” translated into Albanian

TEHRAN, Jan. 24 (MNA) -- The book “History of Persian Literature” by the Iranian scholar Ahmed Tamimdari has been translated into the Albanian language.

The book was published by Iran’s Cultural Office in Albania after UNESCO declared 2008 the Year of Languages.

“History of Persian Literature” was translated by Abdullah Rajabi, an Albanian student of Persian language and literature.

The introduction was written by Iran’s Cultural attaché in Albania Shahruz Falahat-Pisheh, who noted that Persian literature is a precious treasure of knowledge and wisdom. “Persian literature has been able to present great lessons to other cultures and civilizations and where ever it goes, it is warmly received by the host,” reads part of his introductory message.

“In many countries, long before any Iranian organization was established to introduce and translate Persian literary texts, many Persian texts were selected by foreign scholars and already were translated. The people of Albania are not unfamiliar with Persian literature. Over half a century ago, a collection of Sadi’s masterpieces of Bustan and Gulistan, Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh and Khayyam’s Rubaiyyat were translated by Albanian scholars,” the introduction continues.
